It's hard to explain the May-02 flight of 2342 if VP-43 arrived in San Diego on May-03 (Dictionary of American Naval Aviation Squadrons - Volume 2, p.543) after a cross-country journey by train. I suspect at least three crews arrived by air on Apr-24.

Holt, Hutchinson, and Stovall transferred to VP-44 when it formed the next month, while Egbert and Haley stayed with VP-43 (soon to become VP-81).
