NOTICE: Any "Member" who has an item of agenda for the "Business Session", it would be a matter of convenience for such "agenda" to be sent to the Secretary, "Jim THOMPSON" prior to the 13-16 Sept. "Meet". This is not intended to restrict appropriate "On-Floor" late or impulsive membership topics for discussion!

WELCOME ABOARD to all the new members of the "PBY Catalina International Association"! It matters not so much as to how much you contribute to the Association as it is that you share in the "Camaraderie". Through the roster, we hope that it serves to reunite you with old "crewmates" or associates of any favorable sort and through the medium of this "Newsletter" a favorable climate of communication is achieved. Then of course there are the "Meets" that are held at a different site, each time, in such a manner as to equalize as much as possible the distance to travel for most members. It is a tremendous contribution, if the selected "Meet" takes place in close proximity to you, that you may in some way contribute in the "Meet" arrangements up to assuming the role as "Host"/"Co-Host" or whatever your time or talents may be. For most of us, we are in our mature state of youthfulness and are WW-II PBY vets and as such are not in search of "Stressful Situations". The most common cause of our membership, aside from "camaraderie" is to enjoy ourselves within that memorable measure of nostalgia that may serve to rejuvenate the joy associated with the challenges posed yesterday and today and enjoy the "Gusto" that is not necessarily limited to members of the younger persuasion! A significant thought to ponder, is that within the two years of this associations beginnings (April 8, 1988 to April 8, 1990) our numbers have reached 485 in membership and still potential. Oh! and by the way, our membership includes several members of that younger persuasion who have a serious enough interest in the PBYs, that for one thing they desire to maintain some form of continuity in the preservation of "Catalina" or associated "Flying Boat"/"Amphibious Aircraft" mentality. One of our members, Bill PRICE manufactures that PBY-5A model, that is to be won at the 13-16 Sept. 1990 "meet". Another member who is both a fixed and rotary-wing modern day licensed pilot, whose interest is to publish and put into presentation binders from his company, our compilation of "Hands-On Catalina Compilations" submitted through this writer/editor, his name is Ken CANNON. Both of these members are within the newer generation as are a growing number of interested and interesting PBY enthusiasts.

It is perhaps timely to insert, that the editor, Jim MORRISON's staff consists of the only person he sees in the mirror on the chance encounter of doing a bit of grooming or other ablutions. And being somewhat of a proverbial "Jabber-Jaws", my writing reflects a measure of this persuasion; so within assuming this task, I enjoy it very much. What makes it most enjoyable is receiving inputs from "you-all" (Some of my Florida/Georgia vernacularism pervades my literary misguidance at times!), to which may be appropriately entered into the "Newsletter" or the "Compilation" of book-bound Catalina stories, in behalf of this "Association". All material received and printed will be credited to the provider, unless anonymity is desired. Any PBY related experience or observation etc. or pictures, charts or other material that is conveyed in cursive, typed or taped form is acceptable, so long as it can be deciphered. I try to get a personal acknowledgement of material receipt back to the provider ASAP. But sometimes my "In Basket" exceeds its "High-Water-Mark" and ASAP (As Soon As Possible) takes on consequential delay. (PS: I also do things to supplement my retirement income as opportunity prevails as well as performing tasks in association with environmental concerns, especially soil conservation and raising to the occasion of tax assessment equality activism. I like to play and garden and hobby this old 1762 circa Cape Cod house as necessity dictates...Anyway, please keep that PBY info coming in for sharing with intended readers. Thank you!

By the way, with this bit of room on this page, our Secretary/Treasurer, Jim THOMPSON, our International Coordinator, Warren "Marty" MARTIN (The KIWI), and yours truly, the Editor, Jim MORRISON; all wish to extend our sincere gratitude for the kind expressions for the tasks we are trying to perform.
