Was in Pearl Harbor from June of 41 until March of 1942. Attached to VP-21 as a 3rd-class Radioman (ARM). Was stationed on Ford Island until the end of March of 1942 when we left for Perth, Australia. Attached to VP-101. Was there from April of 1942 until September of 1944. While in Perth, Australia as our home base, was sent to nearly island in the South Pacific. Stayed there for over 3-1/2 years before returning to Corpus Christi as a Chief Radioman (PA). Got the usual citations that all squadrons got for pulling Black Cats and Dumbos, raiding at night and picking up downed pilots. |
